As promised yesterday, today I'm going to post in english my last theme - Elegância (Elegance).
I hope you like it!

Today, I will talk about the theme “elegance”. I
don’t mean elegance in its restrict sense and to which, unfortunately, most
people associates to. I refer to Elegance in its lato sensu that is much more interesting and rare nowadays.
Usually, when one talks about elegance, it is
associated to clothes, perfumes, griffe accessories, cars, houses and social
status. But those do not substitute the kind of Elegance I’m referring to
(notice that in order to differentiate one another, I write with “e” or with “E”!)
Elegance it is much more than having the right
weight, the hair well dressed by the coiffeur
, the expensive clothes or accessories: Elegance must start by behavior.
Elegance goes further than to know which is the
right glass or cutlery to use; it’s more than to know what to dress in which occasion.
This Elegance it’s a kind of a endangered specie; it’s rare in the present
days. And because it’s rare, it’s precious and, therefore, it must be preserved
and taken care of with proficient care; one should be able to create the right conditions
so it can reproduces and proliferates and, in that way, comes out of its
condition of “endangered specie”!
Elegance can still be detected in some people;
people that smile when they talk; people that talk in a nice and pleasant tone
of voice; people that know when to be silent and ear and only talk in the right
moments; people that praise more than critisice;
people that teach without false pretension and without adopting an arrogant
posture. For all these reasons, they are generous people. They get up to give
their seat to someone who really needs it. They open the door with a smile.
They give a present for no apparent reason, just because they feel like it.
These people are thirsty of knowledge; they always want to learn more, to understand
better. These people don’t drive away from their own style just to “follow the
flow”, and be like the others.
They are Elegant, because they understand
perfectly well the importance of a caress, a gesture, a word, a conversation
looking straight in the eyes; the importance of solidarity and to reach out for
a friendly hand…
There is no book or blog that teaches how to
have a generous vision of the world… one can learn this kind of Elegance, if one
pays attention and observes carefully; but above all, it has to be oneself to
cultivate it, cherish and feed it. It’s hard work, but it is this Elegance that
is the maximum icon of ELEGANCE. After all, more important than wearing the crown,
it’s to detain the majesty!
